It is your RIGHT to protect yourself, your loved ones and your property, from those who would have it otherwise. It is your DUTY, both morally and legally, to learn how to do it responsibly. Everyone who abuses or misuses this right jeopardizes the basic freedoms of us all.

Classes of 6 will be held  at American Legion Post 312 in Maple Park, IL. The address is 203 Main St, Maple Park, IL 60151. Classes of 4 or less will be held in my workshop.

Classes will run from  0730 to 1630, with a 60 minute lunch break. Times can and will be adjusted as needed. Coffee and donuts will provided but you will be on your own for lunch. You are welcome to pack a lunch
or eat at one of the downtown eateries. Classes will be scheduled as demand requires, email me if you are interested in a class and what dates work for you. I will either put you in a scheduled class or arrange one for you. I have done classes for one person as needed.

Classes will be kept on the small size. No more then 6 students per class. I welcome private and small group classes. We will be using  a private range so there will be no delay in scheduling your qualification. It is an outdoor range.

Course attendees  must read, write and understand English and be able to follow all instructions given.

Day 1 will be all class instruction and will include the NRA Basic Pistol course.  Topics will include firearm identification, cartridge identification, proper handling of a firearm, fundamentals of shooting, sight alignment, trigger control and SAFETY.  Absolutely, positively no ammunition allowed in the classroom.

Day 2 will be 4 hours of class instruction and will cover the legal, and moral, responsibilities of carrying and using a concealed firearm, with emphasis on practice and interaction with Law Enforcement. After that there will be  range. We will be shooting at an outdoor range, regardless of weather, so please dress accordingly. The range is only 10 minutes away and you will need transportation to and from the range.  No open toed shoes, no sandals and no shorts allowed at the range. It is  recommended you bring a baseball type cap.
The cap aides in target acquisition and focus.  Normal range protocol will be followed at all times. Eye and ear protection is required at all times.

Please do not be late for class. We will start on time and there will be no makeup time provided.

Upon successful completion of the 16 hour course, you will be issued two certificates. One certificate for the completion of the NRA Basic Pistol Course and the other will be the Illinois State Police Concealed Carry Firearm Training Certificate.  Passing the course does not guarantee the State Police will issue you a concealed carry permit.

** To obtain the Certificate of Completion, applicants MUST attend their required level of training and successfully pass the live fire proficiency exam. The live fire proficiency exam consists of 30 rounds total with a concealable handgun. 10 rounds at 10 yards, 10 rounds at 7 yards and 10 rounds at 5 yards with 70% on the silhouette of the B27 target.   Do not be nervous, we will work with you as long as needed.

Any individual that engages in unsafe behavior or refuses to listen to instruction will immediately be ejected from the range and the course. No refund will be issued.
